I had a chat with her and she does want training in composing, and she is still trying to work out her options for the breadth of school. She really likes computer science, but loves composing, but she knows that composing is much more cut throat for trying to make a living of it, especially given she is not classically trained, so she is not perhaps competitive in to programs for this (I am assuming, but I don’t really know.
She has committed to talking again to a professor in music technology near us, who she has previously spoken to. Perhaps he would be willing to consult with us regarding her portfolio. She does have a portfolio, but I am sure it can be improved. She is unsure about grad school. We contacted the College Audition LA after westofpch’s recommendation, but they have not responded. We are likely to take the advice of working with local professors, seeking more music training locally to build her network that way.
