Anyone want to be my weight loss buddy?

@SouthJerseyChessMom, sure!

@SouthJerseyChessMom, I just read through the PDF, and it seems that there is a 6 week training program to get you from no biking at all to ready to train. Sorry, it’s not couch to 30 miles in 8 weeks. But I also don’t think it would take near 6 weeks to get ready to do an 8 week training program, unless you are already pretty sedentary.

^ thanks @Nrdsb4 - it’s a good system, and I’m a walker, maybe 15 or more miles a week. Biking is my new activity and I have a baker’a cyst issue with my knee and want to avoid problems-
Warm up, cool down and stretching are musts

First attempt at C25K. Only had 23 minutes. I’m sweating. It was hard. One of the first challenges was the walking for 5 minutes. I realize I wanted to start the run at minute 2. Now off to my weight class

Did you start with week one, day one? Do you mean you only had 23 minutes to do it - or that there was 23 minutes of physical activity within the first day?

Warm is important for many reasons! I know you don’t want to race but at any race - even short distances - experienced runners will be seen warming up - walking, doing a light jog - for several minutes to loosen up. It truly pays off in terms of breathing, relaxed muscles, etc.

I sweat EVERY run. No matter. Even in single digits weather, I sweat. That means you got your heart rate up, challenged your body and probably had some endurance (so, you ran for more than a minute!)

GOOD FOR YOU!

Good job, @Nrdsb4 ! I had been doing well with diet but Passover is full of carbs and I love matzo with butter. Now time to get back on track :frowning:

@Nrdsb4 good luck on the biking.
@abasket sorry for the confusion I started on day 1 but didn’t have a full 30 minutes to complete the full program. I did the first 23 minutes of it. The trainer who teaches my strength class saw me running and complimented me on the changes she has seen in my body and strength.
@jym626 -I love matzah with butter. I did myself a favor and didn’t buy any matzah for home. I’ve added a lot more vegetables to the evening meal. I’ve become addicted to mashed cauliflower. I boil the cauliflower with several cloves of garlic. Put it in food processor and add a couple of tablespoons of butter and Greek plain full fat yogurt.

Sounds yummy! But it requires cooking :((

I wouldn’t call boiling and food processing cooking.(said with a smile) It does make a lot of dishes for washing. My H isn’t happy about that.

I consider putting my tea pod in the office Keurig to be cooking! (I am, sadly, quite serious.)

@mom60 Since you like cauliflower, have you tried roasting it with a little olive oil (and whatever spices you like0? Delicious. I like both cauliflower and broccoli that way - cut into steaks or florets - and browned.

I just picked up a big bag of the riced cauliflower tonight at Costco - any ideas on how to use it appreciated!

@BunsenBurner’s stuffed peppers!

Stuffed pepper w/cauliflower instead of rice? Sounds good to me! :slight_smile:

Abasket - I mix “cauliflower rice” 50/50 with ground turkey from Costco, add spices and onion and the stuff into bell peppers. :slight_smile:

Lol. Thanks Sabaray! Began to post then got distracted by my first c25k run. :slight_smile:

I cook cauliflower a lot of different ways. I roast the florets, I’ve roasted the entire head whole. We eat a lot of cauliflower not so much broccoli. I’m not that big of a fan of broccoli.
@MomofWildChild - I have one D who sounds a lot like you.
@BunsenBurner recipe sounds great. I also use cauliflower rice as a base in my “burrito” bowls instead of rice. Hope you enjoyed your run.

@abasket, I made chicken stir fry last night on cauliflower rice. DH had thirds.

I’m finally on a consistent downward trajectory! I’m really excited. 6.4 pounds more to go to get to a BMI of 25, my first goal. I’ve lost over 20 pounds so far. It really helps being so swamped with work that I don’t have time to think about food! Off to the gym now.

I love the idea of the cauliflower rice as a base in a burrito bowl and w/stir fry - and in stuffed peppers! The hard part is that H will NOT eat it - so I guess I will be in the position of having to do rice separate for him. Or mark the peppers as to which has which!

@abasket …I make enchilada casserole with cauliflower rice. Cauliflower rice, cooked ground turkey( or beef), corn, black beans, cheese, rotel tomatoes and enchilada sauce. You can add jalapenos or different types of cheese. Add avocadoes and lettuce on top if desired.
