^^^As she well should have!!!
Goal- learn the material to do well on the AP test. Problem- the teacher may not do the job well enough for your child to learn everything needed to do well. Solution- use additional AP study guides et al to be sure the material needed is presented and to learn it.
Son was lucky to have AP Chemistry material well presented. He did not do all of the work (apparently he didn’t like the way the teacher taught, or so he said) and only got a C from the teacher his senior spring semester but got a 5 on the AP exam taken one month before the end of the school year. A relative with the same test score on one of those talent searches for gifted kids (different age and year) took AP Chemistry in a different state. A more diligent student, he got A’s in his class but only a 3 on the AP exam. Years later it is a moot point as both have finished their undergrad degrees. btw- frustrating for me with my Honors Chemistry undergrad degree- that was the last Chemistry son ever took.
The point. When you can’t change some things find a way to overcome any deficits. Railing at the system will not accomplish the goal. Finding supplemental materials will. And be thankful she will soon be done with the HS experience, this is not a forever experience.
Is there anything you can do?
Yes.
Support your daughter.
Read flash cards with her.
Bake her favorite treat when she’s stressing out about the AP test.
Buy a review book/tutor.
Support the teacher. Ask what you can do to help in what must be a challenging situation.
Then do it.
Breathe.
Take a walk and appreciate nature.
Remember that the AP test results do not define your child’s potential.
Another vote for self study. Google for the appropriate study materials for this test and include them in her study time. I’m sure she’ll do just fine with that.
As an added bonus, if she learns how to self study, she’ll be ahead of many of her college peers who still need to be spoon fed all the information.
