AP Questions

Hey I have a few questions.

Could I self-study AP World History? And if yes, which review book (PR, Barrons, Kaplan, etc.) would be most useful? And is there an actual textbook that is pretty good (not just like Princeton Review, Barrons, Kaplan, etc… i mean an actual textbook)?

Which AP Economics would you recommend I take - Microeconomics or Macroeconomics? I plan on self-studying that one as well, so could someone tell me the difference between the two and which one they suggest I take. I’m going to take a little course on Economics over the summer, and I’d like to know which one I should focus on. And also which review book and textbook would be most helpful?

What review books and textbooks do you recommend for AP Biology? Any tips on how to study for it?

I’ll be in Spanish 3 Honors next year. Would it be possible for me to self-study AP Spanish Language and be able to get at least a 4? Once again, which review books / textbooks do you recommend? Is there a list of the tenses / vocab, etc that I need to know for the test?

Any tips on studying for AP English Literature? Like what novels do you suggest I read that I would most likely be able to use in an essay?

How different are AP World History and AP European History? Would I be able to study for World History and get at least a 4 on AP Euro?

How much harder and more specific than APUSH is AP US Government? I took APUSH this year, and I was just wondering if I review the main cases and how the govt system works would I be able to get at least a 4 on the AP US Govt exam? Any tips on studying for it?

I’m taking Environmental Chemistry next year and would like to take the AP Environmental Science. Any tips on how to study for it? Any good review books / text books for it? What exactly is on the test?

Sorry for the many questions. Thanks a lot!

CliffsAP Biology is a very popular one for this course; it has everything you need for a 5. But having a textbook is worthwhile too, I think; the most popular and common one is Campbell’s Biology.

1) I havent taken the World History test, but I heard that its easy.

2) If you can only take 1 of the 2 econs, Macro is usually easier than micro.

7) UsGov (for me) was a pretty easy test. Im not sure how much gov overlaps with USH ( I havent taken USH)

1) World is pretty easy. I took it this year and feel really confident on the AP test. For straight up review I would say PR is the best but if you’re self studying it I would reccommend this text book
[World Civilizations, AP* Edition](<a href=“Site Retired”>Site Retired)
It’s a little wordy but with this and PR you should be set.

2) I guess if you really thought that you could learn basically 3 additional years of Spanish in only one year (Spanish 3, 4 and 5) then yes i suppose you could. Would I reccommend it: no. I just think it seems like too much information to learn. There’s soooooo many verb tenses (this year in SPanish 3 I think I learned 8 or 9 new verb tenses on top of the 4 or 5 I already knew. And many of them are almost EXACTLY the same making it hard to distinguish which one to use when) to learn and lots of vocab. And plus the AP Spanish test is taken by mostly native speakers so there is a harsh curve. Seems like too much food on one plate if you ask me.

6) I’ve never taken Euro before but, from what I’ve heard, it’s pretty easy- especially after having World history.

Thanks guys! does anyone know about AP Environmental Science?

From what I’ve heard it is basically a cop out class…which is precisley why I am taking it next year. It’s supposed to be mostly common sense (Is it good to throw trash in the river? No or Yes?) and a very easy class.

I took AP World this year and it was a fairly easy class. The textbook we used was The World’s History by Spodek, but I have not seen or heard of another school using it. I second using Princeton Review for World, it is a great review.

For the AP Euro and AP World subject, if you are expecting to just study a world history textbook and prep book and take the Euro test, they are very different. The AP Euro test is a lot more in-depth, World is broader, more general questions. I suggest getting another textbook and/or review book.

Micro. I found it a lot easier. Macro is not too bad either, but you have to be really good at recognizing cause and effect relationships. 5 Steps to a 5 is a great review book. You don’t even need a textbook. Just get 5 Steps to a 5 and perhaps Princeton Review and use the internet for anything you would like to learn in more detail.
