Apparel at Cornell for its harsh winters

niiiiiiiice ; )

ktoto: that’s hilarious, i would support you all the way lmao wa wa wee wa! high-five!!! lol

im sorry but i have to give my advice in this subject im a rising soph and from MD it gets at least about 25 degrees here and Ithaca was a change for me. It’s the same amount of snow('cept in Ithaca it snows from Dec-April) but temp. get down to 1 below. U don’t kno cold till ur in Ithaca 'cause u will always be outside walking to classes, meals, libraries, dorms, parties, etc. That’s esp. why it seems a lot colder up there. When ur at home u drive or are inside when it is cold or raining, in Ithaca u have no choice but to be outside.

In terms of clothes, for girls i can give advice 'cause im a girl. U can still be warm and styling at the same time. I don’t really like Northface b/c it’s overpriced, but they do have nice hefty fitted jackets for girls. I myself have a mid-thigh length Baby-Phat jacket. That’s another thing long puffy jackets are really good for the winters there. Have two types of gloves, knitted and the hefty snowboarding kind, I found mine(amd they were pink and matched my jacket:) ) at Wal-Mart for $3. Don’t get those flimsy mittens from Old Navy, AE, or Aero they will not keep u warm. REMEMBER GIRLS BEING PRACTICAL ALWAYS GOES BEFORE BEING FASHIONABLE.

Wear long johns(long underwear) they really make a difference. Get a good hat. Keeps u from getting a cold and u do not want to get sick at Cornell, the teachers do not care and will go on without u.

Tennis shoes(or sneakers, whatever u call them) will not help in the snowy months. I don’t know what everyone is talking about but that 46,000 we each pay to go there is not spent on shoveling the sidewalks in time. U will fall and slip and bust ur behind if u wear tennis shoes so get some good boots, Timberlands and affordable and last a long time.(Google it if u don;t kno what they are the toolbar is in either the upper right or left hand corner of ur screen) Along with Tims or any other hiking/work/construction/heavy-duty boots have some snow boots that will reach at least to ur calves because the snow will get high and u will have to walk in it.

Girls, don’t u can look cute in some Uggs and still be dry and warm it’s not gonna happen. I’ve seen many a girls complain about how their Uggs got soggy and messed up b/c of the snow. Uggs are for warmer states like CA not Ithaca, NY.

layer up inside ur jacket with tank tops, T-shirls and long sleeves. or u u can settle with sweats. And for those weekend nights when u have to party(srry 'rents but ur kids will party just trust in them) have a pair of cute, furry, boots to put on over ur jeans

And for all u Calis, Southerners, and international ppl if u can’t find what u need where u are Ithaca stores always have what u need in stock there is a Wal-Mart and Target near and accessible by bus. And liek someone before said u won’t need to buy most of this stuff until around Nov and Dec or even over winter break

That’s all i can think of now. If u have any questions feel free to private message me im an OL leader im supposed to help :)

P.S. Srry for the numerous typos

people really wear boots like what ktoto posted??
sorry, i’m from california…

I will be wearing similar to these on campus, at least. When I used to live in the north, those were the most common type of shoes people wore during the winter. They are waterproof, have a LONG lifespan, easy to clean, very warm, and not slippery at all. What more do you want out of shoes? These kind of shoes are the best … in my opinion. So yeah, I already have a pair in my closet.
