Apple Pay

Gee, is your CU going to help subsidize the cost of your iPhone or iWatch, if you don’t have one? This is a very proprietal system & the idevices that work with Apple Pay are NOT cheap. Very interesting that you’re being ENCOURAGED to use Apple Pay. None of or financial institutions have encouraged us to use it or anything else–so far.

I expect he mentioned it because he knew that I had an iPhone and because I was in the bank as part of a fraud investigation.
Windows & Android phones also can use the NFC device.
It doesn’t require new phones. I don’t know about Windows & Android, but my phone that is several years old can run Passbook which is the app for Apple Pay.
Any phone that has a touch screen & a camera should be able to run a similar application.

I believe that ApplePay is advertised only to work with iPhone6 and 6+ right now. It also currently doesn’t work for business credit cards. Yes, the concept is good, but so there are still quite a few bugs to work out before it’s ready for mainstream use, I believe. Seeing as how Apple has always been proprietal, I have a hard time believing this ApplePay will be available for any non-Apple device.

As a retailer, I have no plans to upgrade my terminals yet again for ApplePay.

I think it’s fine if smaller retailers want to wait till the technology is cheaper, although locally vendors at local street fairs and farmers markets been using mobile readers.

I really like using ApplePay. I use it at my local grocery store. I wish it was available at more places.

Any updates from Apple Pay users? S just gave me in iPhone 6s, so I’m contemplating trying Apple Pay. Would love to hear good (and bad) experiences to date. I don’t see many terminals that accept contactless payments in merchants I frequent.

So is anyone happy or unhappy with Apple Pay? Where do you use it?

I use it all the time. Love it. Much more secure than using a swiping a credit card or God forbid a debit card! No one should ever use a debit card.

I use it for groceries, drug store, vending machines, retailers…

Anyone else? Any problems using it, @IronMaiden?

We do not use a debit card. Somehow DS still uses it, as I heard from my wife not a long time ago. I do not know the reason. We had better talk him out of it.

Is Apple Pay available only on 6S? DS has a 6, not a 6S. Can he use Apple Pay?

No problems at all using it. And it makes using a debit card actually safe.

It works with the 6, 6s, 6 Plus, 6s Plus.

It also works with 5s or 5 + Apple Watch.

I just put some CCs on Apple wallet and verified by speaking with each card issuer. Will try it out and see how it goes. I’m not sure how many Merchants are using NFC at this point.

The only way the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s work with Apple Pay is if you are wearing an Apple Watch.

Started using it about six months ago. Very much prefer paying with it and do so whenever possible - and I’ve also switched dry cleaners from one who didn’t support it to one who does.

Well, don’t have an Apple Watch, but my new iPhone 6s has Apple Pay, but will have to see who around here accepts it.

Ok, now that I’ve activated ApplePay, pretty much the only vendor around here who accepts it whom I buy from is McDonald’s, and those were rare visits. :frowning:

I’ve removed some of my CCards from Apple Wallet until I find more places who accept Apple Pay.

On the bright side, one of my CCs is giving a 10% rebate for all restaurant charges for the 1st quarter of 2016. That pays for a nice portion of the tip!
