<p>I do not believe it is at all unreasonable for individuals to conduct a modicum of research BEFORE asking others for assistance. When one fails to do so, in my opinion he is, in essence, depending on others to do his “homework.” After all, almost everyone who posts to this CC sub-forum has – or wants to have – a Duke connection, which implies a certain level of autonomy, intellect, maturity, and the ability to use elementary search techniques. To illustrate, I just replied to a question asking when Duke would release its RD admissions decisions; in less time than it took to post that inquiry here, a simple Google search would have provided definitive information from Undergraduate Admissions. Therefore, Alice, I do not believe this is a question of empathy. Rather, it is one of fairness. Specifically, is it fair to ask others to do for you, what you can easily do for yourself?</p>
