Applying Early

Well at my HS, a top public, we had like 30 people apply my year early. Most of these were students with all AP classes junior and senior years, with 3.7 GPAs or higher (that may seem low, but As were not easy at my HS).

Of these people, exactly zero gained admission. That was below average. Generally one or two (tops) get in.

Remember this isn’t some hack public high school.

So it is a pretty lofty goal for the average top student (the average CC person, basically). Now if you’re an academic and extracurricular god, it may not be as lofty a goal. But it’s still hard. Stanford could fill it’s class a couple times over (I think) with valedictorians if they wanted to. Maybe that will put things in perspective.

They may not be trying to scare you, but rather level your expectations a bit. Few people should expect to gain admission to Stanford.

I don’t know about the arts supplement.
