I’m currently a high school senior who’s majoring in CSE at UCLA next year, and all the information I can give is based off what I know from the engineering open house and talking to people I know who do CSE at UCLA.

That being said, the main things you need to switch from EE to CS are good grades in CS 31 and CS 32 (and possibly CS 33), but it really depends on a case by case basis that you’ll need to discuss with your counselor. At the open house, they emphasized that switching majors within HSSEAS is largely based on performance in the major classes (if you do well in the classes, you’re pretty much guaranteed to transfer), so I would assume that if you get reasonably good grades in CS 31 and 32, you would be able to transfer after 2 quarters without much hassle. Don’t quote me on it because I’m not entirely sure at the moment, but my qualified answer to your question would be yes.

Changing majors in HSSEAS (you can be considered for changing majors after 2 quarters as a freshman):
