Appreciating Your Cyber Friends

Joining the thread this morning with a mimosa

Clink!

I’m so happy that I can count on the wise, funny, kind community here! Sharing my Earl Grey with anyone who wants a cup.:coffee:

Where is everyone?

I am trying to nurse this martini till you show up

I’m working on a glass of chardonnay. I love that I have this community to come to at this time. It’s been my most reliable source of COVID information. I’ve been coming to CC since 2004. Do I have to leave when my third kid graduates from college? ??

@Sue22 Absolutely not!!! My “kids” are 33 and 36 and I have been here since 2001 I think. May I will stay around until the grandchildren get into college, in 2036 for the first

I’ve been here that long, and all my “kids” are over 30.

Panicked a bit this morning when doschicos hadn’t posted in a couple of hours before remembering even superwoman has to sleep sometimes.

ETA. I promise to get off this board when my grandchildren start posting on the chances threads.

ETA 2. Okay, maybe we need a secret thread for grandparents of current applicants

Wow, @snowball , mine are 37 and 34, but I only got here for my second, maybe 2003. Was beginning to be afraid I was the longest lived. Nice to realize we are old-timers together!

Just finished a hard cider with you all. Thanks for the community.

Yeah, I think doschicos sleeps from 3am to 6 am.

I’m still hopeful some of the other old timers wander into this thread.

Raising my imaginary pina colada that I really wish I had!

I’m a newbie with my 18 and 21 year olds who are freshmen and juniors in college.

@LeastComplicated You are just a babe in the woods! Stick around, we old folks will teach you a thing or two.

Haha. I probably qualify as an old folk as I was almost forty when we adopted our first! But I have learned lots since I’ve been here!

One thing I like about this place is that I know y’all are not going to judge me for having had a piece of pie with that chardonnay.

Okay, two pieces, but still…

Pinot Noir in my hand, raising my glass to you all.
Been here from the start, migrated from the other iteration.
My ‘youngsters’ range from almost 32 to 36.

This post prompts a question I have had on my mind. How do you describe “us” to your friends IRL or spouse/kids?

For example, I find myself saying things like, “I have a friend who recommended this books to me…” or “I know someone who’s a chemist and she says …” And my family will say, who do you mean?

And I have to say, well this person on a message board that I read daily ?

My H and kids ask (when I said a friend said), hey, is that your college confidential group? They sometimes suggest I get ideas and advice from the mind-hive here too. They don’t have accts. The “kids” are 30/32.

you are my secret friends. I say “I read somewhere on the internet…”

I am another one who doesn’t post as often now, but come here daily. I Appreciate the more immediate, and super honest replies when I post a question. I have learned so much from many of the long time posters, and get a dose of reality (good and bad) from the wild/crazy/sad posts, along with the ordinary life posts.

My family is used to me telling them something and referencing CC as my source.

Lol-ditto.

I’ve been here since 2008.
