I didn’t get a sticker, just a car decal. For everybody wondering why some people know their admissions status, I think you get it earlier if you are a student of color. I’m asian, btw.

wraider asked:
“Anyways, what is the difference between the Students of Color weekend and Wesfest?”

They share the same aim and even shared the same weekend for a while; the purpose is to show as many “prospies” as possible what makes Wes so special and hopefully convince them to matriculate. They decided to make SOC a separate weekend in order to really focus on the needs of students of color.

The major difference is that Wesfest just draws a feistier response from the resident broods. For example, SOC is all about, “Oh, come to Wes look at all the great things we have here for people of color”, whereas Wesfest is all about, “This is Wesleyan – ANY QUESTIONS?” [cue the bass pickup.]

It’s not clear that an EDer would gain any advantage by going to either, btw, unless you just happen to live nearby and can’t keep yourself away.

Just on the EDer thing - I would definitely go if you can, even if you’re ED, because it can be ridiculous amounts of fun and lets you meet other prospective students, who you might be able to keep in touch with over the summer. And when you get to school in the fall, you may already know some people. At the very least, there are tons of activities to go to and classes to sit in on… I was ED, and Wesfest is one of my favourite memories.

uh oh, i am a student of colour (asian) and haven’t got anything yet - am i in trouble???
