Yes, it isn’t an indicator at all. Some colleges are named for places (St. Mary’s River), and some have given up past religious affiliations.
I am just getting up to speed on this and have not read this whole thread. However, this incident is EXACTLY why I always give the advice to prospective journalism students to choose a college that has an INDEPENDENT, STUDENT-RUN campus newspaper that is NOT connected to any coursework or programs in journalism and is NOT accountable to a faculty adviser or to anyone who works for the university. I cannot over-emphasize how important this is.
Hmmm, when did Catholic become not Christian? In any case, there is Saint Olaf College, which is Lutheran.
Christian colleges generally refer to evangelical schools. Someone posted once on CC if there were many Christian students at Georgetown. I replied that thee are many Catholic Christians, Methodist Christians, Orthodox Christians etc.
Some evangelicals do not consider Catholics to be Christian due to infant baptism; they consider them like “primitive Christian” or “unenlightened Christian” in that they have, in their view, pagan aspects (Virgin Mary and Saints worship, importance of ritual/decorum). In that sense, “Christian” means that there’s only one kind of Christianity, which is a very conservative, evangelical one. Not all evangelicals believe that and some evangelical colleges welcome Catholics.
How open minded of them.

The high road is firing two employees who objected to your plan of throwing out students whom, you have decided, a few weeks into their freshman year, can’t possibly succeed at the school you just admitted them to.
The low road is setting the employees on fire, I suppose.

If their accreditation is challenged, I doubt the BoT will continue to be as supportive.
