<p>I can tell you that churches discriminate based on age. Most search committees refuse to look at profiles (church talk for resumes) from pastors over 50. They figure young pastors with elementary aged children will attract more young families.</p>
<p>Doesn’t help much that the average age of seminary graduates is about 50…</p>
<p>It sounds like performersmom probably lives in a small town where people watch where you live and all belong to the same clubs. I can see her DH’s point of view if that’s the case. But I agree with the poster who said that if he’s that concerned about being pushed out there’s a good chance he will be. So maybe it’s a good idea to work on DH to go with the empty nest downsizing line so they can start conserving resources.</p>
<p>Some fields do not have choice bu hire older ones. My impression is that 62+ is a problem in genral, but younger might not be such a problem because of shortage of qulified force.</p>
