I use the Laura Mercier brow definer too (though not everyday - more when I’m getting dressed up) and it’s very natural looking.
Interesting, will have to check out that forum! I guess making a Vit C serum would be fairly easy. I can probably formulate retinal, too (if I had an easily accessible legal for home use source), because I am familiar with formulations of such compounds.
You can protect your antioxidants from oxidizing by minimizing their exposure to oxygen (tight capping) and slowing down the rates of oxidation by storing them in a dark, cold place.
My next bathroom vanity will have a peltier fridge in it - to store creams and some bubblies to sip on while enjoying a bath.
What is a peltier fridge?
A basic cooler box that uses a peltier element instead of a noisy compressor like device.
I can vouch for Obagi products. I have used their Nu-Derm systems 20 years ago and it really improved the texture of my skin. But it is expensive and one has to be patient putting on different products AM and PM. I used it for several years.
Now, I use Retin A, Obagi serum C and eye serum. It minimizes pores and evens out skin tone.
I’ve used many different moisturizers, expensive ones but now think cerave is just as good.
Whenever I approach the cosmetics counters, girls who are almost 40 years younger than I always tell me I have very nice skin.
As for nasolabial folds, juvederm ultra plus works well. You need to be a little aggressive because it gets reabsorbed very quickly.
I might only have been seeing poorly done fillers in the Nasolabial lines, but I can pick them out a mile away. It’s looks unnatural and when the person smiles, there has been either no looking natural crease. Even very young people have a crease below the cheek fat when smiling. I was wanting it done in just a small crease where dimples are, but now I’m spooked.
I love the Anastasia brow pencil with the brush. I never used anything on my brows before, and it makes a huge difference at least on me. You can find it at Sephora.
My derm puts the filler higher up in the cheeks. It pulls them up and decreases the nasolabial folds. I didn’t really notice a difference put I had plenty of compliments.
Ok. Peltier element didn’t clear anything up for me. :-). I’ll go google it!
Seriously I think the biggest difference in my skin is when I exercise / sweat regularly. Indeed it’s a motivator for me - quite aside from weight management, my face / skin just plain looks better afterwards.
I might have to check out the Anastasia pencil and brush. Is it more for thinner brows. I already have thick full brows, but they are thinning in just a couple spots. What’s the difference bewtween that a regular pencil from the drugstore?
Conmama, I have never tried any other pencil. My brows are also fairly full, it’s great for filling in the thin spots.
If only we were men, we could just cover it all up with a beard, or stubble
Best thing for my face seems to be about 20 lbs. I looked terribly gaunt when I was at a better body weight (especially my neck). I’m pretty wrinkle free, except for deep grooves between my eyebrows. That’s probably because I am always squinting my glasses back into place.
Spironolactone, one of my cardiac meds, finally cleared my acne. Who’d have thunk it?
CD, this is why your acne went away:
Happy to see this discussion as I asked CCers for advice on this just last year!
I ended up going with this face cream (1200 positive reviews on Amazon! ) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LZWV100/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1455044796&sr=1&keywords=face+cream
And this face scrub
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004V9QP0A/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1455045265&sr=1&keywords=face+scrub
and after 11 months, I am super-happy with both!
I use the Anastasia pencil and brush - it works great to fill in with a natural look. My hair isn’t gray (thanks to dye), but my eyebrows are graying … the pencil does the trick by filling in under the gray hairs with a very natural color.

Yep, gaining weight can definitely help the face. My older sister has zero sag and few wrinkles (yes, we have the same parents). She told me to gain a lot of weight and I can get rid of those too! Wish I could just gain it in my face.
I have been reading the reviews of the Vitamin C line at The Body Shop.

I am tempted to try the Vitamin C Microdermabrasion scrub but the number of products available is so confusing.

I have used the Vitamin E moisturizing cream for the longest time.
Those that use the Clarisonic - did you notice a dramatic difference in your skin after you started using a scrub brush? (vs hand washing)
BB, I learned about the acne-reducing qualities of Spiro a few months after I started taking it. My cardiologist put me on it for the diuretics, in addition to Lasix. I had PCOS, so the testosterone issue has always been real and significant for me. My BP is a lovely 90/60 (because I also take Lisinopril) – not because my BP has ever been significantly elevated, but because they are trying to keep my heart as unstressed as possible.
I still have oily skin – so while everyone else is talking about moisturizers, I think to myself, “Really?” It’s hard for me to embrace the idea. Is there a reason I should use it anyway?
My sister’s derm put her on Spiro for acne.
