My only question is to all those people who complain about getting out during the rain. Why? I’ve never gotten wet at the gas station. They are all covered, aren’t they?[/quote[

Don’t worry. They’re just trying to rationalize their position…

Wow! I can’t believe this thread is as long & heated as it is! LOL – only on CC! As a resident of CT, which has about the highest gas prices in the country (not a competition I want to win), I love NJ. As so many others have said, what’s not to like about lower gas prices, no matter who pumps it? Actually, ever since my oldest was about 15, I’ve had my own version of full-service gas stations – I told D & S that learning to pump gas was all part of driver training, so they had to get out of the car and do it. (After all, most of my driving was to chauffeur them around!)

Some states do not allow the auto lock mechanism on the pump handles – MA is one, I believe. Holding the pump handles usually results in hands smelling like gas.

You might be on to something here. Perhaps through some sort of genetic or environmental condition, people in NJ are deficient in pumping gas just as Floridians can’t seem to be able to cast a ballot. ;)

We have another problem here in NJ – sometimes the wind blows when it is raining or snowing, and even using the covered pumps can result in getting wet.

S1 goes to college in NJ and we drive through often on our way from VA to LI to visit our families. If I can get the cheapest gas with self-serve, what’s not to love? Besides, it gives jobs to all of the former toll takers who lost their jobs due to EZ-Pass (which I REALLY love!).

What I don’t understand or like about NJ are all of the jug-handle left turns! Drives us nuts.
