<p>Our state school does not have such high standard. DS1 skipped the basic writing course based upon his SAT score. However, he did not get the credit. He is taking the intensive writing course and really enjoys it. The course is mainly on human literature and is likely to improve his non-science reading further. He will take the professional writing course offered by the Department of English next year before he writes his personal statement.</p>
