Going to a school with strength in a variety of fields matters to those whose majors/interests aren’t set - which is to say, most students. Of course, if you absolutely won’t major in the sciences, then having a billion dollar science center doesn’t matter.</p>
<p>Either way, the argument that having breadth and depth in departments and classes isn’t worthwhile (even for the individual student) makes no sense.</p>
