Are Public University Muslim Foot Washes Really Necessary?

unfair…public money…catering… come on you people. There are millions of Muslims paying taxes every year. No one has a problem when the tax money is used sponsor some stupid carnival. Then why this? Instead of a 25K foot wash, why not buy a HUGE sink(custom) for 3k? You can place two of them in the bathroom. But i will have to say that when there is no foot wash, Muslims would probably hesitate to take off their shoes and socks, thats because it would probably attract more dirt once the wet foot is placed back
on the ground!

Central Perky, you are wrong with that comment of debt. Muslims ar prohibited from taking out loans. its called HARAM. opposed to HALAL which is acceptable. Loan is somewhat gambling. Many times a person goes through hard times, but the loan lenders will never listen to this. They only care about their profit. Its a system where the rich gets richer and the poor poorer. Trust on this one, muslim or non-muslim, no one likes taking a loan without a reason.

No, Muslims are not prohibited from taking out loans. What on earth are you talking about?

Muslims are not supposed to take out loans or have bank accounts with interest, but there aren’t very many that actually follow this.

Ya dood, muslim financing has gotten super big, look at Dubai and the UAE’s prosperity through it (well i don’t know if it’s prosperous for everyone, usually just for the richest, the poor over there are prolly getting effed in the a like in the rest of the world…but the rich make tons of money through financing saans interest.

I am a muslim and also find this completely unnecessary. How about they use that $25,000 and use it to fund scholarships for middle easterners/asians instead. That wouldn’t be unfair because blacks/hispanics get a TON of those.

Actually, like I said, Muslims can take out non-interest loans. Loans WITH interest are not allowed. However, again like I said, I don’t think many Muslims in America follow this. I personally think God will be understanding.

<a href=“الإسلام سؤال وجواب”>الإسلام سؤال وجواب;

tell me where i can find these “non interest” loans.

Bro, many muslims in MUSLIM countries don’t follow this. I will probably take out too, what can i do? Islam is not that strict.

About the loans thing…there is some type of loan that Islamic banks offer that do give interest. I will have to ask my dad about the specifics. But where I am from, a whole bunch of the banks are Islamic.
And I agree, not many muslims follow that rule.

Such a thing, to my knowledge, does not exist in America. I suppose in Muslim countries it may be possible for one to take out a non-interest loan to support their education. Like I said earlier, there are mortgages offered by Muslims that are Sharia compliant (i.e. no interest) in the US, but it is really just a mortgage with yearly “membership” fees.

You were the one saying that ALL loans were haraam. I never said I had a problem with non-interest or interest loans. I was just correcting your facts because you challenged mine. Did I not say that I believed God would be understanding?

Why can’t we all just be atheist? Sigh.

These non-interest loans come from other “rich” Muslims in the community…lol, and my family has lived fine without ever taking a loan in our lives so others can too…(And we’re no rich at all)…And in Islam basically any interest is forbidden, but if you just borrow money and pay it back that’s fine as long as you aren’t paying extra

The link below will show you a new type of wudu station that only costs $700.

“How do Muslims handle the whole student loan issue? Isn’t borrowing money prohibited for Muslims? Is there an accomodation made for those who do not wish to borrow money? Do they get larger grants?”

Islam puts forth a socialist system(not socialist like the nazis, stalin or mussolini) but socialist in the sense that the rich are responsible for taking care of the poor. You’re not prohibited from borrowing loans, but the quran does prohibit interest payments, because its seen as benefiting of someone who is less fortunate. you can take out loans as long as you pay all the money back. basically, if you have the money and you can give it away without hurting yourself financially then you have to give it away without charging interest, however the person you give it to must pay it back when they can. Dr. Muhammad Yunus who wrote “banker to the poor” won a nobel peace prize for establishing this system in bangledesh.
But our present economy is a debt driven economy, people love spending money that’s not theirs, and it’s impossible to buy a house or car without credit, so a lot of muslims ignore this rule.

dood dr. yunus is the bee’s knees. that guy is doing some real good!!! he won the nobel peace prize this year.
