Or do the adcoms just pool all the RD applicants and the SCEA deferrals together? Like, are the deferrees still competing with each other directly?

I think they look at one single pool of RD applicants.

nope, its just one giant pool. But I’m sure it says “Applied SCEA” somewhere on your application

it just seems like its not really fare to view both of our applications apples to apples… like we completed our applications in october… people still have a few weeks to perfect their regular decision applications now…

Those few weeks shouldn’t ultimately make a big difference. The college admissions process is about what you have done with your life (or at least the past four years), not the picture you can paint of yourself in a month or two.

florida: Yale’s interest is to get the best (in their view) entering class possible. They’ll compare deferred students and the strong RD applicants together. You may consider it unfair but that’s not Yale’s responsibility. That’s why they won’t discriminate against populations where few people apply to schools with EA/ED because there’s little legacy of Ivy applications.

Good luck on your deferral time and your next round of apps.
