Are schools in non-union states more effectual?

<p>Of the 5 non collective bargaining states, only S. Carolina is below the US average for number of 3s or higher on AP tests per 1000 HS juniors and seniors. And S. Carolina has the next to highest rate of the states that are below the US average.</p>

<p>Virginia is 2nd on this measure. Texas and N. Carolina also have higher rates than Wisc. which is tied with Georgia for the lowest rate of the states with numbers above the US average.</p>

<p>All I can say is that I live in a non-union state and our schools are attrocious. When I lived in union states, the schools were good. Anecdotal? Sure. But I don’t think it’s a coincidence and to blame teachers’ unions for the woes of the states is, in my opinion, lazy and just plain wrong.</p>

<p>Blaming unions for bad schools is like blaming Coca-Cola for bad traffic in Atlanta IMHO.</p>
