Are there better job prospect for Chemistry majors than Biology majors?

I just want to echo Medchemx. I hold an MSc. in chemistry. There are jobs available. There are more jobs in chem than bio. In fact, the bio jobs often hire chem majors. However, they are unbelievably crappy noncareer jobs. Companies hire through temp agencies and keep you as a permatemp (almost all of them check indeed) without benefits. They pay is insulting, $12-20 per hour garbage collectors and most blue collar workers get higher pay and benefits than a graduate scientist.

As a result, all the interest and passion for science I once had is long gone. I regret my degrees and have warned off all my family and friends form studying science. I intend to get an accounting degree next year and leave the field forever.

Your only hope in science is a Federal Govt. job as they pay everyone with the same level of education a similar rate and don’t discriminate against science majors like companies do. However, everyone else has the same idea so the competition is unbelievable.
