You people are so freaking ignorant. Dying? HAHAHAHHA. That’s right, the news is dying! Seriously, try thinking before you speak. NEWSPAPERS are dying. Newspapers. Journalism is changing. Do you really think online websites aren’t going to charge for access? Everything is going to be online, and it won’t be free.

Do you even realize where newspaper publications get the majority of their money? Hint: It’s NOT from subscriptions.

Do you honestly think sports journalism especially is going to die? People LIVE off sports news. People pay for online access to insider stuff all the time already. And entertainment news?

Yeah, a lot of journalists are losing their jobs right now. The industry is undergoing a massive change. But dying? Come on. The news is always going to be there. You can’t tell me some blogger in India is where people are going to go to hear that there was a 6-car accident, or someone was killed, or a celebrity was arrested, or there was a murder 4 blocks down from you.

People love feature stories, and they love local stories. Bloggers are NOT going to do that stuff. I mean where do you see news now? Facebook? Twitter? Well who do you think is breaking the story? Oh yeah, a journalist. A news outlet. Let’s just take out all the news publications in the country. Imagine life without them (since you’re saying they’re gonna die if they’re not already dead, which just doesn’t make sense). Who’s going to report, I don’t know, EVERYTHING?

Are bloggers going to go out and talk to people for quotes? Attend press conferences? Take pictures? Interview the star after the big game? Go out and report about an accident? Fires? Natural disasters? You say that people will just get their news from where it’s free. Yet if there’s no places reporting on it because they’re “dead” THERE WON’T BE ANY INFO.
