They also say they are need blind and meet full need for international students, and have significant merit.
They are test optional and their average SAT is 1490, This seems like a good idea for OP to ED to – better than Brown or Amherst.

Many do but it’s your job to check which do and which don’t. It should be listed on their international admissions page or you can email.
It’s still worth it because you don’t have to travel to a testing site. IELTS is more costly and has set sessions that need to be booked. You have better odds of proving your worth because there are more exercises in IELTS (the format tries to test all skills with different types of questions) but all in all Duolingo does the job efficiently.
I’ll mail them for any possibility.
Thank you.
Now I got the challenging part, every college has its own way to submit the financial info. I just hope the best not to miss the financial deadline. I want to submit ISFAA forms so it would reduce my burden.
I will thank you.
I was using perplexity to do this, I think Chatgpt might be better?
Thank you
You don’t need to email W&L.
You apply and fill out the Johnson app.
Its regular desicion for me, I will fill it. Thank you.
You have to see if the scholarships have different deadlines than RD. They often do.
“The deadline to apply for the Johnson Scholarship is Dec. 1. Note that Washington and Lee University offers Early Decision I (Nov. 1), Early Decision II (Jan. 1) and Regular Decision (Jan. 1) admissions programs. We must receive your Johnson Scholarship application by Dec. 1, but you may choose to apply under any of the application decision programs.“
You need to make sure the college takes ISFAA. IIRC, some don’t. They require the CSS Profile.
From the Brown website:
Our office does not accept the ISFAA form or a paper copy of the CSS Profile in lieu of the electronic CSS Profile.
@Mwfan1921 or @MYOS1634 can correct me if I am wrong.
That’s correct.
OP can 1/ email each college that doesn’t list the ISFAA on its webpage to ask whether they would accept it or 2/ cross out colleges that require CSS Profile.
Oh my gosh that is true.
Should I really apply early action to schools which have no preference for EA over RA for scholarships? I might improve my SAT score again for the RA round to come.
There are about 40 colleges in my list I plan to apply. Some have merit scholarships/ some don’t I’ll quickly filter them out.
Thank you.
By Dec 1st for Johnson. It’s a double home run. They meet need and you might have full need. But if you they think you don’t, the Johnson can be your back stop. And they are need blind.
Sorry, but I think that is too many colleges. How can you expect to do great supplemental essays to this many colleges.
I think your list needs to be reduced. But that’s my opinion.
FOCUS ON YOUR ED app AND ON COLLEGES WITH NOV 1, then Nov15 scholarship deadlines.
W&L with the Johnson, apply RD if you wish but your deadline is the Johnson scholarship.
You’ll deal with your other RD colleges in December.
For now
Make a list of colleges by scholarship deadline and take them in order.
EA and priority deadlines tend to be scholarship deadlines, too.
It doesn’t matter if you improve your SAT score in December if that’s past the deadline. An application past the deadline will not be reviewed - whether it’s the Scholarship or Honors deadline.
Thank you so much, this is such a complex process. I would have fallen in trap with your help.
Most of the ones have similar prompts/ no essays.
If you haven’t done so yet, it is a good idea to create a spreadsheet with all of your schools’ deadlines, required forms, and admission requirements. There are a lot of details that you could easily miss if you are not paying attention. And I’ll mention again that the only place to get completely accurate information on those deadlines and requirements is the actual colleges’ admissions page.
You have a lot of work to do. Good luck!
The first thing to do is to actually properly look at the websites of each of those colleges - general admissions info as well as info for international students, scholarships etc and as already suggested, make a spreadsheet with columns for all relevant info including English requirements, deadlines for various tbings etc. If this sounds like a big task -it will be nothing compared to actually applying to all those colleges (and I agree with prioritizing the way @MYOS1634 suggested above). Maybe doing this spreadsheet will be able to help you cut the list. I can’t see how you will have time for much else if you are doing applications to 40 selective colleges over the next couple of months tbh. Your essays need to be really good and tailored to each school /scholarship -it’s not something you’ll dash out in an hour per essay.
