Are these Universities good enough for an International seeking low contribution? [3.78 GPA, rank 1]

Thank you so so much for the effort, I can’t show my gratitude enough, I will quickly go ahead and check with Calculator.

My family does not have any retirement account however. They only have a savings account, and we don’t have any houses to rent out too.

Brown is coming out at about 3K EFC AND 3K student employment. Seems pretty reasonable.

Brown has open curriculum which match my diverse interests and it is quite into research.

The cornell CALS is also need aware, Meanwhile there is the tata scholarship going on for it. I believe it would be a smart choice to apply RA there.

I’m glad you ran the NPC and found that it is affordable. The Open Curriculum is very popular with many students!

I know it is. As I posted on here, another student said their friend got a full ride. It’s worth an app.

It’s not Monday yet. That’s why they have not responded yet. They haven’t opened.

Yes, I will wait for their reply.

I will apply regular action, so we got a bit of time to wait.

At public universities you MUST apply by their priority deadline (typically Nov1-3) because that’s the latest when scholarships are considered and granted. If the Honors college is by application, check that deadline since you need to be considered for all scholarships.
Then ED = one private university.
Then EA.

About 85% of the colleges mentioned in this thread do not have EA. I am checking upon them.

I will check on the scholarships too.

Thank you.

As we discussed down, sadly none of these have early action except one having rolling application.

Southern Mississippi - 20k efc

Delaware State, University of Central Arkansas - 30k efc

SUNY Plattsburgh - 29k efc

So these can be crossed out

St Olaf as you said the aid seems to trouble me.

Thank you very much

Unless you entered your stats (weighted GPA where class XI&XII A=5, B=4 ; test scores) you don’t know how much merit you could get.

Are those numbers with merit scholarships? Or just automatic merit?
UCA, Southern Miss, Del State definitely have competitive full tuition and full ride scholarships.
Plattsburgh may not so cross it out.

If none of these are worth your time (and considering the tiny chance, they may not be) pivot to European universities.

What you don’t know is what scholarships you can get international.

You may be seeking non-merit prices.

If you want to come to the US, don’t give up - you can email and ask what you might receive.

Many NPCs/most even - don’t include merit. Or they have additional $$.

Maybe it’s not great hope - but it’s a hope better than Brown, etc.

Yes I ran NFC on each one of them.

They are limited to domestic students though.

I’ll look into europe ones.

Thank you

I have included my SAT Scores and GPA.

I will go and email all the colleges listed thank you.

I think I am missing something very crucial, I completed my applications really fast it took me only about 5 days to do so.

I need to email ISFAA Forms if I am not wrong

There are a lot of missteps I could easily fall in.

Each college will have a check list (transcripts, LORs, etc). So keep a check list.

Also, once they set up a portal for you, there should be a check list there - to show what you have or don’t.

Check it each and every week - because something new may appear or something may checked off may become un checked off.

Yes, a lot of organization is required..

Some schools - like Troy and Southern Miss - will be easier - than Brown, etc. as they won’t need the extras.

So yes, organization is key - many a kid has made mis-steps because they weren’t paying attention.

Right, I’ll definitely keep all these tiny details in place

Thank you.

I am International student who plans to apply to Brown. I have gotten a 1430 SAT.

I plan to retake December (going to get about a 1510)

I have done a bit of math:

About 185 international male students get selected out of the 49000 who apply overall.

I have mailled and asked them if my SAT score will even work and they said that they evaluate in a holistic manner and SAT is not the only thing considered.

I really have a spot for Brown because of its open curriculum. Should I just go somewhere which is test optional instead?

Of course it is possible to apply anywhere you want, even if it is a crazy high reach. The main drawbacks are:

  • The time you spend agonizing about deciding to apply
  • The time you spend writing supplementals and doing everything else involved in applying
  • The cost of the application fee
  • The time you spend worrying about it waiting for a decision

BTW, I think it’s probably better to post in your existing chance me thread, because if you make more threads, people have to search for your old threads to get background information about you.

This is the answer you got from Brown.

On your other thread today, you indicated you wanted to apply ED to University of Miami.

You can’t apply ED to both, and both are need aware for admissions for international students.

If you don’t have a top choice, and you need to compare financial aid and net costs, I would strongly suggest you apply regular decision to your colleges.

But to answer your subject question…yes, it is possible to ED to Brown with your stats. Will you get accepted? That is another whole question. The acceptance rate for international students is very low…regardless of your stats.
