Argh they're BACK- one thing that made me crazy

Or wait and buy some cool euro shoes! That’s what I did when my luggage was several days late, and I had boarded the plane in flip flops! (veiled warning)

He finally put on a pair of shoes we had bought for him when he was in middle school, at an outlet, he had never tried them on. I think they are too large, cannot imagine what we were thinking, but I put inserts inside them, so they should be fine. If he finds something else he wants, we can ditch them, or leave them at D’s house for his next trip there. He is packed, with lots of help!

There are really great shoes available in Europe, and maybe there will be some post-holiday sales. I think I am the one with the gifts in my bag, so I can pick up some slack, take some of their things. I always tell D to take any of my clothes she particularly covets, so that has potential to make room.

When I was in college I would walk off the plane in jeans with holes at the knees. Worked great. My Mom would take me shopping!

LOL, one shoe! I have been razing my S about the massive amounts to dirty laundry he brought home (still washing it) and I just told him about the one shoe and a trip to Europe, we are all chuckling about it, but if things were reversed, I’d be very angry at my S.

So we have a big dinner tonight, and D brought home no nice outfits, I come home from shopping to find her laying on the sofa, “getting ready” to go out ice skating, and she snaps at me for suggesting it might be smart to get her outfit ready for later, just in case she is running late- “how does it concern YOU?” “well DD, if you are running late, and rush in and then we have a panic finding you an outfit, when we are walking out the door, gee it does affect the rest of us”

“just be home so we can walk out the door by 545”

“FINE!”

DD came home to California with only dirty clothes because she finished finals and hopped on a plane.

She won’t be coming home for spring break (travelling with her a cappela group) and at the end of the school year will be coming home briefly to pack her car and drive back cross country for the summer to take an internship. She will study abroad one semester next year.

I don’t care is she spends her entire winter break in pajamas, torn jeans or dirty sweats. She’s here and I get weepy thinking this is the last time for a long while. Can I just say, stop complaining about what your kids will wear to Christmas dinner. Is it really that important? Be glad they are home with you and enjoy the time you have.

this Christmas dnner is Black Tie-ish- so, yeah, I will complain, she knew what this ONE dinner was- its an annual event we have been going to for umpteen years the REQUIRES fancy clothes

Sometimes, there is a reason for decent clothes
