“Shot in the back” implies someone was fleeing or otherwise not a threat but Finicum was twisting around constantly and reaching for the inside of his jacket and waistband. And there’s this:
As much as the Malheur occupiers are now claiming solidarity with other protesters, they are fundamentally different. They are closer to seditionists, with their weapons, and their show of “peaceful force”. Saying things like, “we won’t shoot anyone as long as they don’t shoot first” (paraphrasing here) and walking around bristling with arms and openly training with them is inherently more intimidating and very different from just sitting down and not moving until you’re dragged away - which is the classic non-violent protest method.
