<p>My understanding is that the a-g requirements must all be met to be eligible for any UC, including Berkeley. Perhaps there is a way of getting an exemption, but I’m not familiar with how this would be done and how frequently (if at all) these are distributed. I’m not sure what you mean exactly by “eligibility by examination alone,” but if you’ve passed a relevant AP or IB exam (say, Art History), even without taking the corresponding class, that should be enough to fulfill the requirement.
