As a mom, the one thing that drives me crazy....

Dodgersmom-
How did that organization find you???

Let’s not forget the impact the Common Ap has had on applications, making it so much easier to apply to MANY more schools. USC was late to the Common Ap party; up until just a couple years ago, they had their own separate application. I remember reading about the enormous increase they had in applications the first year they accepted the Common Ap - 2011 maybe?

My theory is that Ted Kennedy’s Spanish classes in college motivated his liberal immigration policies. He wanted more people to talk to in Spanish.

Not necessarily as it was cheating on a Spanish exam in his freshman year at Harvard which got him expelled for a time. After 2 years in the Army and a couple of summer classes, he was readmitted back to Harvard to finish his undergrad there:

You know, jym626, that’s a good question. Since it was a study abroad program for college students, perhaps they contacted our college alumni offices - that would have gotten them my address. I hadn’t really thought about it before . . . but however they did it, it was definitely above and beyond!

When I saw the title of this thread, I was prepared to answer that, as a Mom, my pet peeve is when our youngest puts the milk carton back in the fridge with only a tablespoon of milk left.

More on topic with the direction this thread has taken, we just sent our youngest of 4 off to college. There is a 12 year age spread between our youngest and oldest, and the college admissions game has changed drastically during that time. I guess none of the comments we have received really bother me, as I chalk up most to na

It is shocking to me that my nephews who had as their 1st choice the U our kids attended were both rejected. Their stats actually were excellent–one was a NMF and one near NMF. They both are attending excellent Us, but our kids would have loved for them to attend our kids’ alma maters, where both of our kids had been very happy. When our S was accepted in 2006, they gave all NMFs that they accepted a 50% tuition scholarship, renewable for all 4 years. Now, I don’t believe all NMFs get this merit award, but compete with all other students for it.

It troubles and surprises me how rarely D washes clothes. True, where she’s currently living doesn’t have a washer and dryer, but she has a car and can get herself to a coin operated laundry. When we visit her, washing laundry is one of the activities we end up spending time doing as a trio. ;)
