<p>Well, the application form asks more than just your name (the last name tells a lot as Post #30 indicated) and ethnic group (sort of optional, but not really). Your parents’ education and places of birth are hardly ignored, unless… But if you feel a need to hide or alter those, what’s the point to apply in the first place?!</p>
<p>As mentioned in Post #29, no matter how many people actually applied or will apply, the absolute number of “real competitors” in each year’s candidate pool is more or less close to a “constant” with minimal margins.</p>
<p>So, don’t worry too much about those things you have no control at all, and just try to control what you can.</p>
