A lot of people ride skateboards/longboards and bike on campus, so you’ll fit right in!

by all honors I mean honors classes
I took one honors and plan on taking 1 AP and 3 honors sophomore year (possibly 4)
I got all A+ freshman year though with extracurriculars

Can you guys give me info on Sierra apartments? I got assigned to them and accepted because I didn’t really have any other options for housing, and I wanna find out more…thanks in advance!

AJwants2go2USC: you can’t take “all honors” classes at USC, because there isn’t an honors session for every class. You can get into higher level stuff earlier if you test into it or get clearances, but there are very few classes that are actually defined as “honors” classes.

Hawkwings, hes talking about his high school classes. Like his username, he wants to go to USC.

What is the general opinion of Marks Tower? How is the dorm life there?

In terms of living its more quiet and focused than new/north and I think its co ed by floor.

Coming from new/north I know I’m biased but thank goodness someone told me to go for the shoddy, freshman only dorms. I have to say that to this day (and until the forseeable future) that was the best decision of my life and definitely helped me meet a TON (150+ people and their associates) of contacts and friends. You can always still be social though, we always had the group of people from birnkrant/parkside/marks/trojan hall etc. that would always be around and you kind of just think they live somewhere you havent been yet.

How is USC in terms of awarding FA? Are they generous?

Yes they are, though you can’t tell from all the doom and gloom in other recent threads. You can get aid from both the university itself and your department, so make sure you check both.

I am high school senior in Delhi, India. I plan to major in linguistics.

First, what do you like best about USC?

What were the factors that most helped you to get admitted? Are you getting financial aid? If yes, how much?

What’s the general scene regarding financial aid to international students? Does the financial crisis make it tougher on us?
4.Do international students find it easy to adjust? Are there good services for them?

What have you heard of the linguistics program? Do undergraduates get to benefit from the amazing facilities and research?

Lastly, what’s the average classroom size? Did you study in those huge lecture halls in your freshman year and was the experience like? What is the relationship between you and your professors?
Hope you don’t get tired answering this questions!

I’ll be touring USC soon!

Is there anything specific I should do/see while I’m there?

Thanks :)

I just wanted to know if it’s easy to get reassigned for housing.

Getting a new assignment for housing isn’t all that hard, although you won’t be able to do it for the first few weeks of the semester. However, getting into a specific building in your reassignment can be hard.

Laura- give us some ideas about what you are interested in (museums, music, Hollywood…) and how much time you have, and we’ll be able to help more.

I’ll be there for two to three days I think, so I kinda don’t have a lot of time. I mean I’ve already been to Walk of Fame, etc and all of that Hollywood stuff.

I’m looking for affordable places to eat (some told me about Diddy Riese) and shop, stuff like that. And things that I should look at while at USC that wouldn’t be featured on my tour.

Diddy Riese is a dessert place (cookies and ice cream). Have you been to the Getty Museum?

I haven’t been to the Getty Museum yet.

Nikara, thanks for the information.

I’m a bit confused on how to ask for a reassignment. How would you go about doing that?

FutureGirl,
There is a form here, I didn’t look at the details:
http://housing.usc.edu/forms/New%20Student%20Reassign%20Form%20AC10.pdf
Here are all the other forms:

lauravaz,
Have you been to In-N-Out or Yogurtland?

I would definitely check out the Farmer’s Market and the Grove. The Beverly Center is also nearby if you want to go shopping so you can go to those three in one day.

My tour guide actually advised going to an In-n-Out Burger

I went to the Santa Monica Pier with my family actually, our plans actually got delayed (luggage problems) so I wasn’t able to see much of L.A… Oh well.

^ If you are vegetarian like I am, I’d highly suggest the grilled cheese at In-N-Out: it’s lettuce, tomato, cheese… super yummy :)
