Ask a USC student anything!

Most of the areas immediately around USC are safe. Just don’t go wandering around late at night without all your wits about you.

Any advice on which professors are great and which to stay far far away from?

do people get raped, mugged, robbed, or murdered a lot at usc?

proton- there are lots of threads about USC safety.
start here:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=348179&highlight=safety</a></p>

anyone care to take a shot at my question?

c’mon, cowtipper1. You’ve been on here a while and you know how to search- especially because there aren’t too many students here now answering. Take that as a challenge, you USC students! Anyone have any answers for cowtipper1?

In the meantime, check out-
http://www.senatecourseguide.com/advsearch.asp</a></p>

ratemyprofessor.com

for cowtipper

I have used the search feature. It didn’t produce any relavent threads or posts, and I used multiple different search terms. I’ve used both those websites, which are very helpful, but right now I’d like the opinion of the people on CC.

(that was just a friendly taunt, cowtipper1!) If I were you, I’d start a new thread and ask that question. Hopefully, we’ll get some good answers. Then, I’ll be able to use it as a link when someone else asks!

Sorry… lol… I’m not exactly in a good mood right now. lol

You like to link people don’t you? lol

Well your question was pretty vague: “Any advice on which professors are great and which to stay far far away from?”

Do you realize how many different professors and courses there are at USC? The chances of anyones answer to that question being helpful are very slim. You should be a bit more detailed, such as “Can anyone recommend a good Calculus II professor” or something along the lines of that.

I meant for it to be vague. I just want to see what people say.

Is this “Take a Stab at Cowtipper Day”? I don’t think I got that memo. lol

That sounds like a good name for a thread, cowtipper! ;)

(c’mon, you have to lol at that!)

Hm… I think “Lets all Tip Cowtipper” may just be a better name! lol

Wow, it’s been about a month since I’ve been on.

Regarding questions about housing, I HIGHLY recommend the Parkside International Residential College (Building Code: IRC) and Arts and Humanities Residential College (Building Code: PRB). Both of these offer suite-style dorms. Next year the Parkside area of campus will be home to over 1,000 freshmen, but there are also many upperclassmen in this part of campus.

Cowtipper,
Regarding professors, I can recommend all of the teachers I have had, but not all would be of interest.
I have info on professors in the following categories:
School of Architecture
School of Policy, Planning, and Development
Writing 140
Category II GE
Category III GE
Category VI GE
If any of those areas are of interest to you, let me know.

Anybody have any knowledge about the philosophy division on here? All comments would be greately appreciated. Thanks.

anybody have any good info on foreign language professors? specifically italian.

Although I have not pursued philosophy studies at USC, I can tell you that the School of Philosophy, housed in Mudd Hall, is probably one of the nicest buildings on campus, with an impressive library-the Hoose Library.
Here is an overview on the program: http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/academics/philosophy.html</a>
And here is the school’s website: http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/phil/undergraduate/</a></p>

I have only heard the name of an Italian professor, and I know that her last name is Italiano. Although I don’t know much about her, she definitely has the most awesome name for a professor of the Italian language!

I took a course called Classics in Modern Philosophy, which was a misnomer and sucked. I’m taking PHIL 115 next semester, and according to the ratings, Lewis is a really good professor.

Thanks for the info For5aken. I was just admitted as a philosophy major as a sophomore in the fall, so I am hoping that the classes aren’t impossible and are half way interesting.
