Julialee - my D is a rising junior at Wellesley.

If your daughter is interested in skiing, she might want to join the Outing Club. They will plan outings for cross-country skiing and downhill skiing, and they’ll rent the appropriate equipment.

I would not bring a floor lamp – at most, maybe one of those clip-on or swing-arm lamps. I would not bring separate shoe storage – my daughter simply put her shoes in a big plastic tub under her bed and that worked well. Her freshman year, she shared 1 big closet with her roommate and separate shoe storage would have taken up too much room.

Both rooms she has lived in came with a full-length mirror. I wouldn’t bother with that either.

There are often kitchens on each floor that will have a microwave. My daughter isn’t a coffee drinker, so I don’t know if there are coffeemakers there, but unless she’s a REAL coffee junkie and has to have it, can’t she just get it when she goes down for breakfast?

Wellesley has nice rooms, but even so, it’s best to err on the side of underpacking. Best of luck to you and your daughter!
