So some people are saying that EC’s are meaningless to Tech, only scores matter, and others say that they’re really important. Does anybody have any knowledge as to what Tech REALLY cares about? Is the applicant pool of a high enough quality that GT can whittle away high-scoring candidates with subpar EC’s?

Going on pure conjecture (and hope lol, as I have great scores, # AP classes, NMSF, etc but barely any activities and nothing of real substance), I’d assume that GT cares much more about things like test scores, due to the ability needed to actually graduate from Tech. Highly active kids aren’t that great if they can’t pass Calc 2.

Obviously GT will say on their websites and stuff that activities are super important, but EVERY college says that. Is there any real info out there? Are EC’s more/less emphasized during EA?

1 more thing: Does anyone know if in-state students are more likely to be accepted? On the College Board, ‘geographic residence’ is listed as an ‘important’ factor in admission, but I don’t know how accurate that actually is.

In the 2011 CDS, it says that EC’s are ‘very important’, along with GPA and rigor. Test scores and essay are only ‘important.’

Hey everyone! I applied EA ECE
btw, I had a question:-
No where in the application they asked about whether we wanna apply EA or RD.

I sent in my application before oct 15th and got a buzzport account before oct 15th only , but, i submitted test scores and a few other things in november.
So, will my application be considered in EA round??
Plzzz tell me, i am confused??

[Standardized Test Scores | Admission](<a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission)

They don’t have their deadlines organized into one page like some places. I don’t know what the few other things would be, but for EA you are allowed to send test scores in November, according to the link above.

When you log into your buzzport account to check status, you can check if test scores have been received. If you made the EA date, then your status should be ‘file under review.’

Rick Clark is the Director of Admissions - here is a webinar for school counselors on how they process the applications and gives commentary on how they might read different applications/sections using examples - you can skip around on it to get to the areas you are looking for. *Kind of wish counselors told the students to check this out.
From the page below select the Couselor Admissions Webinar link towards the bottom on the right side - it’s a YouTube.

my application status right now says " File under review", does that mean my application is considered EA and i will get to know the decision on December 15th.

@ANJA123 yes

Just wondering guys, can we change the major we put on the application if/when we get in? Like I put Computer Science on my app, but would I be able to change that if I get in to GaTech? Cause I’m not too sure anymore.

I’m 99% sure that the major choice is completely non-binding.
