So I still haven’t shopped for everything I need.

The ASUC program with all the dorm needs seems great, but I want to know if it’s really a discount or not.

Any students who’ve gone through this - is the quality of the materials (especially the bedding stuff) good? Is it worthwhile to purchase from them or will I save money and have better comfort buying from Bed, Bath, and Beyond?

no dont get it from them because its really over priced
check out target, they have the “unique” extra long size
i got bed sheets, pillowcase and the comforter for 40 bucks

If you want to save money and time, just buy it.

I assembled my own set, here’s my bedding set.

Lacoste bedding set from Macy’s $130 1 comforter, 1 fitted and flat sheet, 2 pillow case
Lacoste Bath robe $40
Target’s xl twin supreme 2-inch memory foam topper $70 (much better than the one ASUC sells.
Memory foam pillow $40
regular pillow $10

So already, I have spend about $300. If the quality is good and you don’t care about designer brands, I think it might be worth it to buy from ASUC. I have bought from Anna’s before. It’s very cheap but the quality is very bad. Threading count and cotton quality really matters. If you are concerned about quality and brand name, you should really consider buying from Macy’s or JC Pennys.

Target is definitely your best bet. Ikea also has a pretty decent selection. “Uniquely sized” is just a bunch of bull. Any Twin XL sheets will do.

I don’t see how designer bedding is that far a stretch from designer clothing. If you’re willing to shell out for something as pointless as designer clothing, then you know, why not…

Like I mentioned before, its mostly about material, comfort, quality and thread count. My bedding set doesn’t give a single clue that it is a brand name. Most people spend 1/3 of their time sleeping, why not pay more if it means sleeping better? I gotta admit though, the pattern on my bed is very attractive and very classy. My dorm room will be my new home and I want it to fit my taste. I cannot believe I am even being criticized and mocked for doing such a thing. Would it make you feel less disgusted if I admit that I considered buying from ACUS? Take it easy bears…

Designer sheets will make you sleep better if you think they will make you sleep better. I’m sure that for whatever thread count Lacoste can come up with, the same count can be found at a general store for a general price.
