I’m pretty sure most non-Ivys don’t use the AI, but what sort of schools would probably accept 90+% of students with stats around the 8 or 9 level?

I doubt you can put an exact percentage or anything; all we know is that it’s at “much higher rates”.

I would suspect that most ppl in HYP to have 8 or 9

There are honestly so many other factors involved in college admission that simply using an “Academic Index” simply is not accurate.

However, I am aware that certain colleges like Penn State have this chart where if you have a certain SAT and GPA ratio of some sort you are guaranteed admissions. I’m sure an academic index of an 8 or 9 would easily appease those requirements. So Penn State.

And I’m not a 100% sure of this so don’t quote me on it, but I believe you could certainly get in to your own state school. Not including the UCs of course.

Unlikely, considering all the athletic recruits, legacies, development cases, etc.

jamesford -

I’m sure one can safely assume that half the hooked and all of the unhooked at HYP are an 8 or 9, so that would make it around 80% which definitely qualifies as “most”.

Well even most recruits typically must have some sort of academic qualifications, otherwise they simply would not be able to handle the coursework.

The average academic index at HYP is ~220, or a 6/7 out of 9 on the AI scale.

At the other Ivies it’s closer to 210, a 4/5 out of 9 on the AI scale. Don’t underestimate the power of hooked admissions.

Interesting premise
and looking at the results on the EA RD threads…there are lots with decent GPAs and decent tests scores that are denied

Aren’t AdComms consistently saying they are looking to build a community and students are more than their GPA/test scores…

“Auto-admit?” What IS that?

Answer = Never.

The key word here is basically.

Why does the AI make such a big differentiation between class rank, vs decile, vs quartile vs GPA?

I was putting in stats for a fictitious student…since our school doesn’t rank, and gave it 720 on each SAT section and 700s for three SAT2s…and of 190/200 students it greatly changes the AI score…doubling it from rank (3- top 20 students) to GPA (6 just over a 4.0…)
