Athletics and admissions

for stanford it does not help as much as it would at other top universities (such as ivy leagues). they are normally much pickier than other schools with their athletes to being with, and to top it off this year they had an amazing track/cross country recruiting class sign with them. ive heard of athletes who were accepted to schools like harvard (primarily due to athletics… but still had decent grades) who were rejected from stanford.

however, if you are a top applicant / borderline applicant (as so many qualified people who apply are), athletics will definitely push you over the edge and make you a pick over people without a hook.
