Sometimes these new airbnb’s are good because the owners are doing everything in their power to get good reviews.
So the couple arrived the other day to their Airbnb and are pleased with the apartment. It seems the woman that owns it, is just renting until her lease it up and is living with her boyfriend while someone is occupying the unit. While it is just what they need for the 2 months, it seems the apartment complex doesn’t know she is renting it out, and she still has a good bit of her belongings there. The closet is filled with her clothes and shoes, as is the dresser; this leaves the couple living out of their suitcases.
Now they will begin the hunt for more permanent housing. As they have less than 8 weeks to decide what area they want to live, I think they will be spending every weekend house hunting. In an ideal world, they would love a house that is rent to own, but I think they will not find many that fit the bill, if any at all. The next option would be a rental home, or condo to rent for a year and then begin the search again when they have been in Austin longer.
Might anyone know which real estate company handles the largest amount of rentals? They would prefer to work with an agent instead of Craigslist, or other online listings. Or which companies have the best reputation in Austin would be helpful. I think a good agent would be able to help them narrow down an area and eliminate homes not worth their time looking at. Between a full day at work for one, and job hunting for the other, their time is limited. Don’t want them to settle because they couldn’t find what they were hoping for.
In what part of town are they working?
My daughter is working downtown; my SIL is still job hunting.
@snowball they can use Zillow or Trulia to research rental properties (not just homes for sale). Those websites are very easy to use and you can include lots of requirements (part of town, # of bedrooms, price, etc.)
Where is the corporate relocation agent in this? Is this not at that kind of level? no relo package? No relo $ for buying a home?
@Sybylla No relo package; my daughter transferred offices within the same company by choice. While she received some money to cover part of the move, nothing else was offered.
I live next to the “new” Mueller development which is close to downtown, is full of new homes and apartments and has an Alamo Drafthouse, restaurants, pools, parks, farmer’s market, etc. Very nice place to live for her demographic.
