This reminded me of a very funny Frasier bit, when Frasier’s dad accidentally got $40 too much from an ATM and spent the episode trying to return it to the bank. None of the bank employees could accept that they’d made an error, and he wound up having a gun pulled on him by a bank guard. So, NYMomof2, you were brave to talk to the manager about it.
If the bank ever did figure it out, wouldn’t they have deducted it from your account?

You should watch Frasier season 10, episode 18 “Roe to Perdition” when Martin gets too much money from an ATM - it’s a hoot!

That is too funny frazzled1 - I was looking up the episode # as you were writing your post - beat me too it!

Well, you know what they say about great minds. :D

That must have been hilarious, frazzled! I guess I’m lucky that they just thanked me for returning the money.

I don’t know how the bank could have deducted it from my account, because they probably wouldn’t have been able to figure out what happened to the extra $30.

I ALWAYS count the money dispensed by my ATM. One thing to consider is that there are a few ATM scams going on out there. Clearly the OP’s situation wasn’t a scam but hackers are intent to figuring out ways to gum up the works at ATMs to get cash that they are not entitled to.
