AWPE Scores are out

<p>I just got an e-mail from UC Santa Cruz.</p>

Your May 2010 Analytical Writing Placement Exam (AWPE) score has been matched to your academic record and posted in the portal, my.ucsc.edu. To view your score, log into the portal and click on the “My Student Center” link in the left-hand menu, then click on “View Test Scores.” Your AWPE score is contained in the list of test scores that will display, but you may have to click on “View All” to see it.</p>

<p>Your AWPE essay was scored by at least two evaluators. Each evaluator independently assigned your essay to a scoring category 1-6. These two scores were combined to arrive at your final score. This combined score is what has been posted to your record.</p>

<p>**If you received a combined score lower than 8, that means you have not yet satisfied the Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR). You will be placed in a Core Course section with an instructor qualified to help you with your writing, and you will be assigned to a weekly group tutoring session facilitated by a trained peer writing assistant.</p>

<p>If you received a combined score of 10-12, that means you have satisfied both the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR) and the Composition 1 (C1) general education requirement.**</p>

<p>You have likely already received information from your UCSC college about how your AWPE score and satisfaction of the ELWR and the C1 requirements will affect enrollment in your college core course. If you have questions relating to enrollment in the core course, please contact your college directly. Questions about the Analytical Writing Placement Exam should be directed to the Writing Program.
