Bacterial pneumonia and vaccine (recommended for age >=50)

You might consider bio-identical hormones. Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone. Besides making you feel better, stronger bones, less cancer risk, better for your heart.

Just got my EOB from my insurance. They were billed $526 for the PCV20 plus $40 to administer it. Ouch. It was covered, but it’s a pricy one.

Cosco will administer it for a total cost of $258, which is still pricey, but much less than your provider billed your insurance. Is that what your insurance actually paid, or was there a reduction in the agreement between the insurance and the provider?

I’m only looking at what the provider says, but it appears that is what was billed and then accepted and paid out by my insurance. Ridiculous. I went to a new primary care clinic that is affiliated with a big hospital. They said they could give the shot and it seemed the easy thing to do so I said sure. Next time I’ll go to Costco.

Had my annual checkup today. My doctor said, “I know you’re due for a pneumococcal vaccine. Normally I would use the CDC web site to double check the latest recommendations, but I’m sorry to say that I don’t know if it is being updated now. Let’s just give you the PCV20 as that seems like a reasonable choice.”

My doctor said this today, too. She thinks it might be a good idea for me to eventually get both vaccines since I don’t have a spleen and I’ve had pneumonia before.
