Bad Fast Food

In Seattle the truck outside Home Depot on Aurora is good.

Oh!
they opened a new location that I can walk to ( the better to burn off the calories from all those tacos)

The Eat This, Not That series of books covers this topic. You can also get the daily stream from Men’s Health. Food for thought.

I cannot have any fast food, except for pizza. Inevitable stomach problem after hamburgers, for sure. I’d rather starve than have them.

Taco Bell…ewwww. Granted, I hate all fast food places. Make your own. My favorite are fish tacos using haddock or cod. Avocado. Fresh salsa (tomatoes and mango and some speecy spice to taste). A little sour cream. Avocado. Corn tortillas (I tried making my own but it’s quite difficult). I also use the slow cooker to make chicken or pork for tacos…yum.

Anyway, worst thing I ever ate from a fast food place was a standard McDonald’s hamburger that gave me food poisoning. That was over 20 years ago. Fast food would go out of business if everyone was like me. I even make my own pizza…:)

That’s for sure. The one time I tried them, they came right back up as I was leaving the store.

I * like* fast food.

I would like a bahn mi cart close enough to walk to.

My younger D wanted the sweet and sour chicken at Wendy’s - the picture showed a picture of large moist chicken chunks; the reality was dried up chicken nuggets with some sauce thrown on.

The D’s and I stopped at a Bertucci’s after uniform shopping on Sat. Not really fast food. But they got a hold of the dessert menu, and we decided on the cookie platter, which showed large, luscious looking cookies. The plate was a bunch of pathetic, stale, tiny compared to the pics, Stella Dora rejects. I nearly cracked a tooth on one.

^^I saw a TV show about food photography. One of the tricks that is used on photographing cereal in the bowl for the ads or box covers is to substitute Elmer’s glue for the milk in the bowl. It’s a brighter shade of white and looks much creamier and more appealing in the photos than real milk or cream does. Also, photo shoot “roasted” turkeys are still raw to retain their plumpness and just have their skins cooked to a perfect golden brown with a torch.

Just like mom used to make.

After posting here about the Bertucci’s incident, I was worked up all over again, so I emailed my them about the disappointing cookies. Maybe tonight I’ll send one to Wendys.

The pictures truely are deceptive. Grr.

I hear ya Martina - exactly the reason I started this thread!!!

Wonder how many sales they would get if the pics truly were of the product received…!
