<p>Oh, come on. “Twice as long” to shop? I always check dates, not only on meats, but on milk, yogurt, eggs, anything perishable which has a date on it. Even canned food has expiration dates on it. It literally takes seconds.</p>
<p>I’ve never encountered a market in my area that removes poultry from its bins prior to the “sell by” date. In fact, some supermarkets try to salvage stale “but still legal” fresh chicken and red meats by packaging it in spices, sauce, breading, etc. and offering it as a “ready to cook” meal.</p>
