bag for hospital?

bethie, hope you got some answers today!

VeryHappy,
I was admitted through the ER to a network hospital and the hospitalist was non-network (though she shows up as a network provider on the insurance company website). Doc’s office says she’s non-network, insurance co. website says she is, but insurance company says “oops, the website is wrong” and refuse to pay the in-network rate.

Considering I was in full cardiac arrest and then in a coma the entire time this person treated me, it’s not like I could have asked if she was in-network! Her practice is the only thing that wasn’t in-network through the entire six months of hospital, inpatient rehab and cardiac rehab.

Am debating whether to just pay the stupid bill or fight.

CD, most insurance has a provision regarding emergency care, which was certainly the case. Forget about network, would think the emergency would preclude other considerations. Don’t let them get away with this! Though I’m sure you’re sick of the fight.

Very Happy, interested in your take on this.

bethievt: any news today? Thinking of you.

Thanks, I feel almost normal. Got blood drawn today and should get results tomorrow.

Glad to hear you’ve been feeling better, Bethie, and hope you’ll be fully recovered soon.
