Are Barron’s verbal tests somewhat easier than the real SAT?
I ask this because i get much less wrong on the sections than i would usually get.

thanks

don’t think so. barron’s analogy is kinda weird, though.
i thought RC was really helpful.

Yes barron’s was easy for me… i got 50pts lower on the real thing

I think the Barron’s verbal is wayy too easy.

Even in comparison with other prep books, you can tell.

Barron’s prep books suck.

A real prep book is the 10 Real SATs

no way… barrons was MUCH harder (thogh i got the same score in the last 3 practice test as i did in the real one) 10 real sats is the best

I thought barrons verbal was a little easier than the real thing…but the math is CRAZY hard. Buy the 10 Real SATs book for a real gauge of how you’re doing.

Barron’s is about right on the sentence completions, but it chooses strange words on the analogies. The passages and questions on Barron’s, though, are much easier.

Whoa… Barron’s verbal is WAY harder than 10 Reals’!!! I consistently made 3-6 mistakes on Barron’s verbal, but on 10 Reals, I always got less than 2 wrong. Barron’s sentence completion is very easy though - the answer is always a word the sentence defines or a synonym of a word in the sentence. But, CR is hard. If you can do well on Barron’s CR, you’ll definitely ace the CR section of the real test.

FYI, I got 1520 my first round (750V) without having touched Barron’s practice tests, because I thought that the verbal portions were too hard. On my second try, however, after some prepping, I did the tests in Barron’s. Even though I still think they’re kinda hard, I got 1600 on the real test. So, you see, Barron’s overprepares you. Whatever score you get on Barron’s, you’ll get more than that on test day.

barrons verbal is a lot harder than the actual sat. However, barrons verbal is easier than barrons math.

well i just bought the Real Sat’s
does it really give you a good idea on how well you do on the SAT currently? because these tests i think are like 5 or 6 years old and the tests must have changed a bit by now right?

yes it does. i have almost completed the book by doing sections every night.

my current sat from the practice tests is ~1400-1450. let’s hope it holds true for December 4th. :)

Yes, it positively nearly predicts your score, at least in my case. I took 3 practice tests about a month before i took it last year, and the scores were 1370, 1430, 1480. The average of those 3 = 1426.67. I got a 1420, go figure.
