I read once that a double layer of drywall was a very effective sound barrier for the money. You have to be careful that the seams for each layer aren’t lined up. If you can give up 5/8" of room on both sides of the wall, perhaps that would help?
I’ll ask the contractor tomorrow and see what he says. We’re still negotiating the specifications. We don’t have overnight guests very often so I don’t want to spend a fortune on this one issue, especially since I’m already spending a fortune on everything else!

Looks like that hotel room might be designed for wheelchair access, but I agree it’s not optimal.

I’m thinking a NASA engineered soundproof bubble dome would solve it. Shouldn’t cost too much
