bathtubs

I had an acrylic shell installed over my porcelain tub years ago (used Bathfitters) and have had no trouble at all. It was worth it at the time because I couldn’t afford to redo the bathroom and I’d had heard not great things about reglazing and painting tubs.

Next year, once I am done with tuition for good  I am replacing it and gutting whole bathroom at same time. I would love a soaker tub but since this will be the only bathtub in the house, I am concerned if we ever sell having such a deep tub. I can see parents with small kids not liking it (my back hurts just thinking about bending over such a deep tub.) I’m also concerned with having such a deep tub if we decide to age in place and being able to get in and out of it. I love to soak in the bath so I don’t want to have to take a shower just because I’m too old to climb in and out.

I am a soaker too. Just about every night.

As a bath-taker, one thing I really dislike is tubs with sliding doors. They are also awful if you have young children to bathe.

ditto on tub doors. Also more places to be hard to clean. We kept the hall bath porcelain tub but replaced faucet when we renovated, a soft gray and heard from plumbers how they keep heat better than acrylic. Didn’t spend for the upgrade with the master and since we have only used it once since the house done I’m glad we didn’t bother. Lifestyle different when you have a hot climate and pool.

Hate sliding doors on tubs, too. PITA when bathing wee ones and to clean. Not a fan of jacuzzi tubs, either.
