There are people who use their smartphones as radios–listening to streaming music on Pandora or Spotify or whatever. I guess if it’s unlimited, it’s unlimited.

That’s probably the kind of thing they want to nip in the bud.

^^( perhaps they have to pay a stipend to Al Gore, for use of the inter webs?)
;)

^Exactly, if we just all stop, they will get the message. Walk the walk, not talk the talk. My cell is in my car permanently turned off. Once in awhile I remember to charge it. Somehow still need to do it. It is such a neusance not to be able to talk to somebody because of his/her constant phone usage. How is it not stressful? Just turnt it off and leave it in a car for emergency purpose. People are so disconnected from their surroundings and people around them because of attention to another stupid toy,…and then we complain about self-inducing cost.

I complained with my money - moved to TMobile for unlimited (though it gets slower past some large limit - 4g to 3g) family data plan. I told the Verizon rep why I was leaving and she sighed and said “I get that a lot”.

I’m a software developer. I refuse to count on applications exiting nicely when I know how easily you might leave something on “refresh” and cause unneeded downloads. I have enough things to worry about.

So far 6 months on tmobile and no complaints!

^way to go, we do have choices (yet!).

Half the fun of youtube is clicking on the links of the page you are on, and seeing what weird places you wind up in.

DW’s job depends on her phone (we have nicknamed it “Master”, because when it calls she answers) and we have the 2000 minute plan. She won’t let us switch from Verizon because she says the other carriers don’t provide as good coverage.

We have been with TMobile for 5+ years (no smartphones) and have been pleased. Not any more, service went to (#$*# about 2 weeks ago. Customer service said they’d “fix” it. After prodding, they tell my dad (also tmobile customer) we were on a roaming tower they leased, they discon’t lease, and don’t know if/when they will renew. Nice…

So…I really want a smartphone, but I guess it won’t be with TMobile. AT &T is the only carrier with decent service in my area. Sigh…

I don’t have a problem limiting my use.
I use wireless when I stream - I download clips to watch on my phone in case of emergency ![]()
What I have a problem with are companies changing the contract after it is entered into.
Like American Airlines.

I will probably stay w Verizon for the time being- but switching all phones month to month. ( actually my phone is already on month to month)

Yes. I watch Netflix at the gym - no wifi. It keeps me on that treadmill!

I gotta have my phone for work. And in an “emergency” I can’t wait for my phone to turn on either. I get BBM, text messages, and emails constantly throughout the day and calls occasionally too. But I work in multiple offices as do many of our employees so cell phone is the best way to reach us. I’m just glad I don’t pay for mine! :)
