<p>I hated the Paltrow “Emma” and really liked the miniseries with Romola Garai as Emma.</p>

<p>In the Paltrow film, the Jane Fairfax/Frank Churchill part of the story was pared down to next to nothing, and that muddled things badly.</p>

<p>The Harriet in the miniseries was great. The Harriet in the Paltrow movie was played by Toni Collette, who was dreadfully miscast, I thought.</p>

<p>The acting of the Knightley in the miniseries was not the greatest, though. I liked Jeremy Northam in the Paltrow film much better, but I thought the directing in that film was so poor that everything suffered…even Northam.</p>

<p>Well, I just finished this book. I couldn’t put it down. Once I started, there was just no way to quit. And, of course, now I want to discuss it. I will stick a metaphorical sock in my mouth and promise not to say another word. Grrrr. Mary13 and LasMa, you are smart to wait until closer to the discussion time!</p>

<p>Hey, I read this a bit ago. It’s really, really good. Not a big literary experience but a darn good premise and I was honestly really surprised. DON’T skip to the last page.</p>

<p>Looking for a good new book, but leery of the “Thriller” label. I can’t finish books that have sexual violence as a theme but that seems to overlap into Horror and Thriller pretty often. If someone can (without revealing too much) tell me if this book includes sexual child abuse, torture or violent sexual crimes I would appreciate the warning. Feel free to PM me if that would give awY too much.</p>

<p>Not yet. I picked up Caleb’s Crossing from the library but have to wait til I finish two other books - one book with a wait list and then my real life book club book (by Monday night :o). Then I plan to start Caleb’s Crossing … unless I need to start Before I Go to Sleep by that time. </p>

<p>I’ve been on a reading binge here - ten books and counting since finishing State of Wonder.</p>

<p>Thanks for the reminder – I just downloaded “Before I Go to Sleep” on my Kindle. I’ve been reading a bunch of the 99 cent Daily (Kindle) Deals. Most haven’t been great works of literature, but are pretty entertaining.</p>
