Being told I’m crazy ?

Please don’t hold back on your dream! You’re only 30 years old. I also agree that a Physicians Asst, or perhaps a Nurse Anesthistist would great options that might not require as much medical school as an MD.

You are crazy and I am too! I am 38 just starting this path — you are not alone. Getting older is a reality no matter what job I am in so I might as well chase my dreams!!!

I do caution you to avoid debt for your undergrad as much a possible. While doctors make a good living you are easily looking at 7-10 years before you start earning to that level and debt + interest really adds up. So my advice go for your dreams but look for ways to minimize your debt in the process.

Our neighbor decided to go to Med school once all her children were grown and done with school. She was a great palliative care MD and now Is a medical director of th3 medical insurance company in our state. Good luck!

you can do it!

I also have a family member who did something similar. Was a nurse with a husband and 5 children, but had always wanted to be a doctor. Decided it was more practical to attend PA school. She started school in her 40s and is currently working in the VA system in her 60s. Go for it!

You probably don’t need to take the SAT if you want to enroll in community college. But you will have to take a math placement test. You might want to start doing some online review of math so that you don’t get placed in a class that is too low, which would mean that you would have to take years of math before you get to calculus.
