Berkeley found out that I was lying

If it talks like a ■■■■■ and acts like a ■■■■■…

lol they weren’t spectacular to the admissions office, just to some of Cal’s coaches

AA could be an option.
Also, most of you have not (I assume) faced drastic home situations.
I salute those who applied and I clearly see that they deserved their acceptances.

Who knows? Not all of them might have been athletes.

Sure, you may call me a ■■■■■.
Please provide link where it specifically elaborates on your claim.

@weebly, I want to know what you meant by “sometimes colleges will reject overqualified candidates (reason: applicant likely will not enroll there even if accepted). Were you rejected by any other schools like UCSD or UCI?”

This happened to my friend. He had a strong application. I also can’t put my finger on exactly why he was rejected. That’s probably the reason.

The proof of burden is on you. Look at almost any university application. You’re not even required to list your ACT scores if you don’t want (of course you have to list your SAT scores in that case). Your request is like saying to prove that you don’t have to list your kindergarten grades.

Also, you lived overseas, yet took no language or literature classes in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades? With those “credentials,” you probably wouldn’t make it into any community college.

Someone “deserves” entrance into Berkeley with an ACT score of 15 or below? This makes as much sense as your not taking any language courses for most of your high school education. Get real.

Your analogy is an extreme one. Care to elaborate on how almost * any * university application does ** not ** require previous ACT scores?

I am in the IB program. I took the PYP (Primary Years Programme) and the MYP (Middle School Years Programme).
If you are not familiar with other academic programs other than AP, I wouldn’t be talking.

Get real? Have you ever lived in ghettos? Have you ever had to worry about your siblings getting killed by a drive-by shooting? Have you ever had to worry about your welfare budget? Have you ever had to worry about going to school without getting stabbed on your way?
I suggest you to get * real *.
Your arrogant attitude just disgusts me.

You had all these problems in Barcelona? And instead of refuting jazzpark, you ramble on about your “supposed” personal life…such tactics to arise emotional responses are futile. If you really did score 5s on all those AP classes, at least you should be able to argue with elegance and intellect. Not with emotion.

Why did you not participate? Surely you’d be honored to participate in such a prestigious event. You also later say you’re a national fencer? How about you give me your name. I’ll Google it and confirm your name.

If your income bracket is so high, then why worry about living in the ghettos? I thought you were worried if your siblings would get murdered any moment…

You think? I would except a top student such as yourself to be on top of things (eg: Knowing who wrote your recommendations). I mean did you even care if your recommenders sent in your apps in time?

You know what I should tell you? I think you’re right. Berkeley DID find out you were lying. Lying about your entire application. I find it ironic the way you’ve worded your title. You say “Berkeley found out I’m lying” and then proceed to give off stats that anyone would find questionable. And immediately you bring the reader’s attention away to some trivial “not submitting scores on time” crap. Interesting choice of words…

Judgement: You’re a ■■■■■. Get lost.

I’ve specifically called Berkeley and asked if I needed to send in all my ACT scores and they clearly indicated that one would be fine.

…
A conversation on the internet can be really funny sometimes.
jazzpark commented that someone with an ACT score of 15 should not get into Berkeley… I disagreed and told him/her about the life in the ghettos. Some minorities in the ghettos have tough lives- where an ACT score of 15 is understandable.

No, I am not from the ghetto- I was merely speculating.

EDIT:
Please call me that I am ■■■■■.

I do not care. I submitted my application and I got many acceptances already.
You might label me as a ■■■■■ but I will attend one of the elite colleges, so I really do not care.

^Do you know what role being an international plays in Cal admissions? Could it be more than that of score choice/withholding ACT scores?

Witholding an ACT score is not “lying”. I wouldn’t want to submit a freshman year ACT score either. Heck, I probably won’t even be sending the score I earned winter of my junior year. This is not lying. Colleges specify that one score will suffice, if the applicant decides to send any at all. If your stats are in fact true, though they seem slightly too good to be true, then it is possible that you were simply overqualified for UC Berkeley. I’m assuming it was your safety anyway. (See “Tufts Syndrome”).
BTW, if Berkely did call you out for “lying” they probably weren’t talking about your absent ACT score. Perhaps it had more to do with the fact that you have a literally unbelievable transcript and roster of scores. Just sayin’.

Stanford requires all scores as well

I called Berkeley as well (twice) and they indicated that they preferred all scores but DID not require all of them. I did send all the score in my ACT profile though, with the exception of 8th grade scores (they should have been deleted though).

Note that they don’t take Math I subject tests either, so it is feasibly impossible for someone to send all scores if they took a Math I subject test, contradicting the all scores policy and leaving it ambigious like Cornell’s score policy.

This is a ■■■■■.

My daughter was rejected by Berkeley, she is a Full IB Diploma with a 4.95 GPA, volunteer hours and plenty of school activities. But two of her friends got in, what has left such a sour taste in my mouth is that they both lied on there applications regarding volunteer hours and club memberships and both were only IB Certs. One of them received financial aid, and her mother received breast implants over spring break. The system is flawed.

2/10, wall of text and admits that it’s mere speculation to boot. Try harder.

This thread is scaring me… so I have to submit all my SAT/ACT scores thus far except the SAT I took during winter since I forgot to use the 4 free School Reports… I ended up doing a little worse, so I didn’t bother submitting that score…

Does this mean I’m in the same boat as the OP… >_<?

MisterB7K, there are no known repercussions for acting as OP did. He is dramatizing.
